SAFE Silent Auction

The Oregon Zoo is honored to host the 2026 Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Annual Conference, September 26 – October 1, in Portland, Oregon. We are also excited to support AZA’s conservation grants programs with the proceeds from the SAFE: Saving Animals From Extinction Silent Auction.

Annually, the Silent Auction has been a successful fundraising tool for AZA’s Conservation Grants Fund for collaborative conservation and we look forward to continuing the tradition in Portland. Your participation in the auction helps support more than 55 SAFE species programs across the globe, and the work of nearly 90% of AZA members! Together we are saving the most vulnerable wildlife species from extinction. And together we can see a world where all animals thrive and all people respect, value, and conserve wildlife and wild places.

Today, the JoEllen Doornbos Endowment for SAFE exceeds $8.5 million. Help us reach our goal of growing the endowment to $10 million by 2029!

Thanks to the extraordinary support of JoEllen Doornbos, every donation to AZA SAFE will be matched dollar for dollar up to $250,000 per year for four years (2026-2029). This campaign will enable the JoEllen Doornbos Endowment for SAFE to provide grants to SAFE species programs in perpetuity, ensuring long-term conservation impact.
 

 

Donate Auction Item

Please help us reach our goal to fund SAFE programs by donating a unique or specialty auction item highlighting your facility, programs, or partners you support for the 2026 Annual Conference.

Share this invitation with your staff, volunteers, and Board members to encourage them to make a personal item donation to the auction, as well. The donation will have a direct impact on the important work conducted by your staff and colleagues to save animals from extinction. Items will be bid on by attendees during the AZA Annual Conference.
