Kick off the 2024 AZA Annual Conference in true Calgary style at the iconic Heritage Park Historical Village! Nestled in southwest Calgary, Heritage Park sits on a 127-acre peninsula surrounded by the Glenmore Reservoir on three sides with the majestic Rocky Mountains providing a breathtaking backdrop for your first night in town.

On arrival, you will be warmly welcomed in true Western fashion and transported into a nostalgic wonderland where you can explore the history of the area and indulge in food and drink pairings with a prairie flair. Attendees will receive two complementary drink tickets; cash bar will be open until xxx. The entertainment lineup will keep us true to our roots with a country music band, Indigenous performers, and appearances by the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo’s award-winning theatrical troop, the “Wilder Bunch”. Enjoy the amusement park rides, the ice cream parlour, and old-time candy shoppe. Don’t forget to snag photos of the showstopping landscapes as you make lasting memories with friends, new and old.

Heritage Park is a 25–30-minute bus ride from downtown Calgary. Transportation will be provided at bus pickup locations outside of designated conference hotels and the BMO Centre at Stampede Park. Although there are indoor tented spaces, dress for the weather and be sure to wear appropriate walking shoes to enjoy this night fully.

If you are unable to make it to registration prior to the Icebreaker, you can still attend the event. Volunteers will have a list of registered attendees at the entrance to the Icebreaker. Please be advised, tickets cannot be purchased at the door.
